Janice Marchman

Sen. Janice Marchman is a middle school math teacher and engineer from Loveland running this fall for reelection to the Colorado Senate. After working as an engineer and later staying home with her children, Janice became deeply involved in Loveland’s public schools, serving on the Thompson School Board and helping pass local mill and bond measures to strengthen school funding. As a senator, Janice is a fierce advocate for strengthening public education and lowering the cost of living, and if she is reelected, she will continue to fight for Colorado’s working families.

In 2022, Janice flipped District 15 by just over 1000 votes. 2026’s election is shaping up to be just as competitive, but with the support of the DLCC’s Target Races program, Janice is ready to defend her seat and help Democrats expand their majority in the Colorado Senate.

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Colorado and establish a supermajority in both chambers of the state legislature.

Colorado Democrats won a trifecta in 2018 when they flipped the state Senate blue and have since made impressive strides in improving the state’s quality of life, including legislation to expand access to affordable housing and health care, protect the environment, strengthen public education, and support working families.

This year, Democrats need to gain three seats in the Colorado House and just one in the Senate to establish a supermajority in each chamber. This would allow constitutional amendments to be placed on the ballot without Republican support – a huge step for democracy on issues such as voting rights and reproductive freedom.

The DLCC is all in to support candidates in the most competitive battleground districts in Colorado, candidates where national grassroots support could give them the edge they need to win tough races and expand Democratic power in Colorado.
