About Allison

Rep. Allison Tant is a nonprofit founder and disability advocate from Tallahassee running for reelection to the Florida House this fall. Allison founded a nonprofit organization that creates affordable housing options for adults with a range of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and is the Founding Chair of a scholarship program for students with disabilities. As a legislator, Allison has continued to support Floridians living with disabilities, public schools, measures to increase access to health care, and economic relief for working families.

Allison is returning to defend District 9 after first winning in 2020. With every seat in the Florida House on the ballot this year, the DLCC is supporting Allison’s race in this must-win battleground.

Florida

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Florida and break toxic supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.

Across both chambers, Democrats only need to flip 9 seats to end the GOP supermajorities, block veto overrides, and check the reckless adoption of Trump’s extremist policies at the state level. Florida Republicans have turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, cut Medicaid access for seniors, and demolished economic opportunity for Floridians.

The DLCC has been on the ground working with Florida Democrats to win key races, recruit competitive candidates, and identify the districts where nationwide grassroots support will have the most impact in 2026. Since 2020, we’ve highlighted 47 Florida state legislative candidates in our Target Races program, including Emily Gregory, who won a stunning special election victory in March to represent HD-87, flipping the district that includes Mar-a-Lago.

Progress is possible in Florida, but we have to keep up the momentum. We cannot afford to miss this moment to put Florida Democrats on the strongest trajectory to build back power after almost 30 years of one-party rule. The DLCC is all hands on deck to support Florida Democrats committed to building a brighter future for the Sunshine State.
