Michael Ferguson

Michael Ferguson is an attorney and U.S. Air Force veteran from Broward County running to flip a seat in the Florida House this fall. Michael was brought up to believe in service, hard work, and standing up for what is right. These values led Michael to serve his country as an Air Force Judge Advocate, where he handled serious criminal cases worldwide, both as a prosecutor and as defense counsel. He held offenders accountable while defending the constitutional rights of those accused. If elected, he will be a strong voice in Tallahassee for working families and the rights of all Floridians.

Years of work by the DLCC and state Democrats have made District 100 one of the most hotly contested battlegrounds in Florida this year. Michael is capitalizing on this historic opportunity to flip his district and help Democrats gain ground in the Florida House.

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Florida and break toxic supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.

Across both chambers, Democrats only need to flip 9 seats to end the GOP supermajorities, block veto overrides, and check the reckless adoption of Trump’s extremist policies at the state level. Florida Republicans have turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, cut Medicaid access for seniors, and demolished economic opportunity for Floridians.

The DLCC has been on the ground working with Florida Democrats to win key races, recruit competitive candidates, and identify the districts where nationwide grassroots support will have the most impact in 2026. Since 2020, we’ve highlighted 47 Florida state legislative candidates in our Target Races program, including Emily Gregory, who won a stunning special election victory in March to represent HD-87, flipping the district that includes Mar-a-Lago.

Progress is possible in Florida, but we have to keep up the momentum. We cannot afford to miss this moment to put Florida Democrats on the strongest trajectory to build back power after almost 30 years of one-party rule. The DLCC is all hands on deck to support Florida Democrats committed to building a brighter future for the Sunshine State.
