The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning the fight for America’s state legislatures.
About David
David Silvers is a former Florida state representative running this fall to protect a Democratic-held seat in the Florida Senate. During his previous time in the legislature, David forged a reputation as one of Florida’s most effective Democratic legislators. He consistently advocated for policies to improve the lives of families and working Floridians, including significant mental health reforms for children, enhancing public education with career-readiness programs, and advancing criminal justice reform. David is ready to continue his work to build a brighter future for his state if he is elected in November.
With District 26’s Democratic senator leaving the chamber due to term limits, David is stepping up, with the DLCC’s support, to defend this highly competitive seat from Republican encroachment.
Florida
2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Florida and break toxic supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.
Across both chambers, Democrats only need to flip 9 seats to end the GOP supermajorities, block veto overrides, and check the reckless adoption of Trump’s extremist policies at the state level. Florida Republicans have turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, cut Medicaid access for seniors, and demolished economic opportunity for Floridians.
The DLCC has been on the ground working with Florida Democrats to win key races, recruit competitive candidates, and identify the districts where nationwide grassroots support will have the most impact in 2026. Since 2020, we’ve highlighted 47 Florida state legislative candidates in our Target Races program, including Emily Gregory, who won a stunning special election victory in March to represent HD-87, flipping the district that includes Mar-a-Lago.
Progress is possible in Florida, but we have to keep up the momentum. We cannot afford to miss this moment to put Florida Democrats on the strongest trajectory to build back power after almost 30 years of one-party rule. The DLCC is all hands on deck to support Florida Democrats committed to building a brighter future for the Sunshine State.
