About Richard

Richard Lamondin is a business owner and Miami native running this fall to flip a seat in the Florida Senate. Thirteen years ago, Richard and his brother started a company with the vision of protecting natural resources and reducing energy costs for consumers. Their business has now led to the conservation of over 10 billion gallons of water and lower utility bills for thousands of renters. Richard is running for the state Senate to keep fighting for lower costs, access to affordable housing and health care, and increased accountability in the Florida state government.

District 38 is extremely competitive, and Richard is ready for a tough election. His victory could help Democrats break the GOP supermajority in the Florida Senate, and the DLCC is bringing national attention and support to this key race.

Florida

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Florida and break toxic supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.

Across both chambers, Democrats only need to flip 9 seats to end the GOP supermajorities, block veto overrides, and check the reckless adoption of Trump’s extremist policies at the state level. Florida Republicans have turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, cut Medicaid access for seniors, and demolished economic opportunity for Floridians.

The DLCC has been on the ground working with Florida Democrats to win key races, recruit competitive candidates, and identify the districts where nationwide grassroots support will have the most impact in 2026. Since 2020, we’ve highlighted 47 Florida state legislative candidates in our Target Races program, including Emily Gregory, who won a stunning special election victory in March to represent HD-87, flipping the district that includes Mar-a-Lago.

Progress is possible in Florida, but we have to keep up the momentum. We cannot afford to miss this moment to put Florida Democrats on the strongest trajectory to build back power after almost 30 years of one-party rule. The DLCC is all hands on deck to support Florida Democrats committed to building a brighter future for the Sunshine State.
