Rep. Emily Gregory, a small business owner from Jupiter, pulled off a stunning upset victory to flip her district blue earlier this year. Now Emily is running for reelection to serve a full term in the Florida House. Emily stepped up to challenge MAGA extremism and help usher in a brighter future for her state, and her special election win helped to chip away at the GOP supermajority in the Florida House. Emily has fought for her community in the legislature while working to bring down the cost of living, and if she wins reelection in November, she will continue to uplift Florida’s working families.

Emily successfully flipped District 87, which includes Mar-a-Lago, in a special election earlier this year. Now, she’s running another strong campaign with the support of the DLCC to protect this important foothold for Democrats in the Florida House.

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Florida and break toxic supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.

Across both chambers, Democrats only need to flip 9 seats to end the GOP supermajorities, block veto overrides, and check the reckless adoption of Trump’s extremist policies at the state level. Florida Republicans have turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, cut Medicaid access for seniors, and demolished economic opportunity for Floridians.

The DLCC has been on the ground working with Florida Democrats to win key races, recruit competitive candidates, and identify the districts where nationwide grassroots support will have the most impact in 2026. Since 2020, we’ve highlighted 47 Florida state legislative candidates in our Target Races program, including Emily Gregory, who won a stunning special election victory in March to represent HD-87, flipping the district that includes Mar-a-Lago.

Progress is possible in Florida, but we have to keep up the momentum. We cannot afford to miss this moment to put Florida Democrats on the strongest trajectory to build back power after almost 30 years of one-party rule. The DLCC is all hands on deck to support Florida Democrats committed to building a brighter future for the Sunshine State.
