Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces Slate of Targets in Florida
Putting an end to unchecked Republican power in the Florida legislature is within striking distance in 2026
WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced 17 Target Races in Florida as we aim to break the toxic GOP supermajorities in both chambers. Florida Republicans have used their power to turn a blind eye to the insurance crisis, gut health care access, demolish economic opportunity for Floridians, and attack voting rights. This spring, Florida Republicans passed a version of the SAVE Act to make it harder to vote and rushed to further gerrymander their congressional maps just months before the election.
The DLCC is working directly with the Florida House and Senate Democratic caucus to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact. Democrats in Florida already have momentum on their side after two shocking special election victories this year, including when Emily Gregory flipped the seat that covers Mar-a-Lago.
2026 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shift the balance of power across the country, and Florida is a top target for the DLCC to break the GOP chokehold on power that has pushed the limits of Republican extremism. With less than 70 days until Election Day, the DLCC is executing on our historic Target Map and strategy.
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:
“Florida Republicans have used their supermajorities to turn Tallahassee into a laboratory for the most MAGA policies. From passing deadly reproductive health care restrictions to blocking access to the ballot box, Republicans are attacking their citizens instead of focusing on the issues Floridians face every day. Democrats are ready to put an end to their unchecked power. The DLCC is proud to support this group of candidates mounting strong campaigns and focusing on the needs of their communities. In the final stretch of their campaigns, the DLCC is working to get these candidates across the finish line and capitalize on this once-in-a-generation opportunity to build Democratic power.”
The DLCC’s slate of Florida House Target Races is:

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) leads the national strategy to secure Democratic power in our state legislatures. We are the campaign arm for more than 3,000 state legislators and thousands of candidates across all 50 states who are advancing Democratic values and standing up to the dangerous MAGA agenda every single day. Over the last decade, our work has flipped 10 new chamber majorities. Those new majorities have ensured Democrats in state legislatures are positioned to protect our democracy and fundamental rights, while addressing the high cost of living and advancing opportunities. The DLCC’s national strategy and target map continue to pinpoint the most efficient paths to Democratic power across all 50 states.
