Todd Delmay

Todd Delmay is the executive director of Florida’s longest-running LGBTQ+ civil rights group. He and his husband Jeff were part of the lawsuit that won marriage equality in Florida and became the first same-sex couple in the state to get married. Todd wants to protect Floridians’ rights from Republican attacks and build a state that is safe and inclusive for everyone. He’s running for the state House to fight for lower costs, housing affordability, and real solutions to the challenges faced by Florida’s working families.

Todd is ready for a competitive race against District 101’s incumbent, who recently switched parties to run as a Republican. The DLCC is supporting Todd as the official Democratic candidate in this battleground district that offers an excellent opportunity for Democrats to gain ground in the Florida House.

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Florida and break toxic supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.

Across both chambers, Democrats only need to flip 9 seats to end the GOP supermajorities, block veto overrides, and check the reckless adoption of Trump’s extremist policies at the state level. Florida Republicans have turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, cut Medicaid access for seniors, and demolished economic opportunity for Floridians.

The DLCC has been on the ground working with Florida Democrats to win key races, recruit competitive candidates, and identify the districts where nationwide grassroots support will have the most impact in 2026. Since 2020, we’ve highlighted 47 Florida state legislative candidates in our Target Races program, including Emily Gregory, who won a stunning special election victory in March to represent HD-87, flipping the district that includes Mar-a-Lago.

Progress is possible in Florida, but we have to keep up the momentum. We cannot afford to miss this moment to put Florida Democrats on the strongest trajectory to build back power after almost 30 years of one-party rule. The DLCC is all hands on deck to support Florida Democrats committed to building a brighter future for the Sunshine State.
