2026 is a historic opportunity to protect and expand the Democratic majorities in the Maine House and Senate. A Democratic trifecta can continue to make significant progress for the state, allowing Democratic priorities to move forward to improve the lives of over 1 million Mainers.Â
Maine’s Democratic trifecta has acted to protect reproductive rights, shield health care workers from attacks, and passed paid family and medical leave. Not only will a Democratic-led legislature continue to provide a bulwark against the chaos from the Trump administration, but we cannot afford to miss this moment to put Maine Democrats on the strongest possible trajectory ahead of redistricting in 2030.
The DLCC will be targeting competitive races across the state and sharing more info on DLCC Target Races in Maine soon.

DLCC 2016 Election AnalysisWhile Democrats running for state legislative office fell short of this cycle’s high expectations, Democratic power in state legislatures actually increased.
