Maureen “Mo” AuCoin

Maureen “Mo” AuCoin is a plumber and community organizer from Hallowell running to protect a Democratic-held seat in the Maine House this fall. Mo’s parents instilled in her a dedication to community engagement and volunteerism. Both values continue to guide her, inspiring her work supporting local food pantries and organizing fundraisers to benefit flood victims. Mo is running to make Mainers’ lives more affordable, advocate for expanded healthcare access for all, advance social equality, safeguard workers’ rights, and preserve our natural resources and outdoor recreational spaces.

The 2024 state House election in District 55 was decided by less than 150 votes, and this year’s race is shaping up to be just as competitive. With the DLCC’s backing, Mo is ready to defend this key Democratic seat and help Democrats expand their majority in the Maine House.

2026 is a historic opportunity to protect and expand the Democratic majorities in the Maine House and Senate.

Democrats have held a majority in the Maine Senate since 2018 and in the House since 2012. Despite a tough year for Democrats nationwide in 2024, the DLCC’s work in Maine helped ensure the state legislature stayed blue. Since then, Democrats have built momentum with special election wins and impressive candidate recruitment across the state, and this November, we aren’t taking a single hard-won district for granted as we approach the tightly contested midterms.
