The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning the fight for America’s state legislatures.
About Molly
Molly Buck is a public school teacher, colon cancer survivor, and former state representative from Ankeny running to flip a seat in the Iowa House in November. Molly fought on the front lines with her fellow teachers and ISEA union members against Republican bills underfunding education and gutting collective bargaining rights. As a state representative, Molly was one of the only active classroom teachers in the Iowa legislature, and she has fought fiercely for students, teachers, and Iowa’s working families. Now, Molly is ready to return to Des Moines and continue advocating for a better Iowa.
Molly was first elected to represent the toss-up District 41 in 2022, and, despite a strong campaign, came just 138 votes shy of reelection in 2024. This year, with the support of the DLCC’s Target Races program, she’s ready to retake this seat and help Democrats build power in the Iowa House.
Iowa
Iowa is emerging as a historic opportunity to prevent a GOP supermajority in the Iowa Senate and break the supermajority in the Iowa House.
After nearly a decade of full GOP control, a series of DLCC-backed special election victories in 2025 — including wins in Republican districts — signaled a shift in the political landscape. These victories not only broke the Republican supermajority in the Iowa Senate but also proved that, with early investment, Democrats can win even in the toughest terrain.
In 2026, defending these hard-won Senate seats and making targeted gains in the state House will be critical to stopping Republican overreach and restoring balance in the legislature.
The DLCC is all hands on deck to keep up our momentum.
