About Amy

Amy Tagliareni, an Ankeny resident and nonprofit leader with a background in college athletics, is running to defend a Democratic seat in the Iowa House this fall. Raised by a single mother in a small farming town, Amy is an advocate for strong public schools and healthy local communities, and is committed to ensuring every child, regardless of background, has access to opportunity. As a member of the Ankeny School Board, she helped guide a fast-growing district, oversaw a $200+ million annual budget, and built a reputation for thoughtful decision-making, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and long-term strategic planning.

With the backing of the DLCC, Amy is ready to go the distance to protect this key seat and help Democrats gain ground in the Iowa House.

Iowa

Iowa is emerging as a historic opportunity to prevent a GOP supermajority in the Iowa Senate and break the supermajority in the Iowa House.

After nearly a decade of full GOP control, a series of DLCC-backed special election victories in 2025 — including wins in Republican districts — signaled a shift in the political landscape. These victories not only broke the Republican supermajority in the Iowa Senate but also proved that, with early investment, Democrats can win even in the toughest terrain.

In 2026, defending these hard-won Senate seats and making targeted gains in the state House will be critical to stopping Republican overreach and restoring balance in the legislature.

The DLCC is all hands on deck to keep up our momentum.
