2026 is a historic opportunity to build power in red states all across the country, including ending the GOP’s unchecked power in the Florida House and Senate.

Across both chambers, nine Democratic flips will end the GOP supermajorities and give Florida Democrats more leverage to fight against the extreme Republican leadership in the state. 

Florida Republicans have used their power to turn a blind eye to the insurance crisis, gut health care access, demolish economic opportunity for Floridians, and attack voting rights. This spring, Florida Republicans passed a version of the SAVE Act to make it harder to vote and rushed to further gerrymander their congressional maps just months before the election.

With 2026 setting a historic opportunity to build power in red states all across the country, the DLCC is launching 17 Target Races to break the toxic GOP supermajorities in the Florida House and Senate. 

The DLCC is working directly with the Florida House and Senate Democratic caucus to deliver support and resources to maximize Democrats’opportunities to flip seats and weaken the GOP’s chokehold on power.
