Joseph McClusky

Joseph McClusky is a lifelong Michigander from Holland running this fall to flip a seat in the Michigan House. For several years, Joseph has worked with community leaders and local organizations focused on strengthening West Michigan and creating meaningful change. This work has given Joseph a firsthand look at the challenges working families face every day. If elected, he will fight to lower the cost of living, hold lawmakers accountable to their constituents, and support working families through public education, infrastructure improvements, and access to health care.

District 86 is one of Michigan’s most competitive opportunities for a red-to-blue flip, and Joseph is stepping up with the support of the DLCC to win this battleground and help Democrats establish a majority in the Michigan House.

In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.

In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but with Democrats remaining as the majority in the state Senate, the path to a trifecta is within reach in 2026.

With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results for Michiganders.
