About Jaime

Former Rep. Jaime Churches is an elementary school teacher from the Downriver area running to retake a seat in the Michigan House in November. Jaime previously served in the Michigan House, and if she wins this seat, she will continue to prioritize Michigan’s working families. During her time in the state House, Jaime helped pass common-sense gun safety legislation, bolstered workers’ rights, funded vital infrastructure projects, and provided tax relief for families and seniors.

Jaime was first elected to the Michigan House in 2022, winning this toss-up district by less than 700 votes. In 2024, the district swung red, but now,  Jaime is mounting a strong campaign to represent her community again and flip a seat for Michigan Democrats to help retake the majority.

Michigan

Michigan stands as one of the most critical battlegrounds in the country.

In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.

In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but Democrats maintained control of the Senate, keeping the path to a trifecta within reach.

With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic early investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results.
