About Shannon
Shannon Dare Wayne is a lifelong Michigander, Milan City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem running to defend a Democratic-held seat in the Michigan House this fall. Shannon was raised in a union household where she learned the importance of hard work, service, and standing up for others. Shannon’s public service is still guided by those values, and she has helped deliver critical funding for local infrastructure while helping maintain fiscal responsibility. Shannon is running to bring the same practical, results-driven leadership to Lansing to lower costs, strengthen schools, improve infrastructure, protect access to health care, and fight for good-paying jobs.
Shannon is stepping up to defend retiring Rep. Reggie Miller’s seat with the support of the DLCC in one of the most competitive districts in Michigan. She’s well-positioned to win her race and help Democrats gain the four seats needed to form a majority in the Michigan House.
Michigan
Michigan is one of the most critical battlegrounds in the country.
In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.
In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but with Democrats remaining as the majority in the state Senate, the path to a trifecta is within reach in 2026.
With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results for Michiganders.
