About Matt

Matt Schlinker is a retired auto worker from Genesee County running to flip a seat in the Michigan House in November. Matt is a fighter for the underrepresented and an advocate for the voiceless, committed to building a better future for his grandchildren and the next generation of Michiganders. He believes the role of a representative is to serve the people first and respond to their needs with integrity. Matt is ready to fight for working families on issues such as the cost of living, economic opportunity, and access to health care and high-quality public schools.

In a last-minute write-in campaign in 2024, he came close to unseating District 68’s GOP incumbent. Now, with a full campaign and the DLCC’s support, Matt is ready to finish the job and flip this battleground district.

Michigan

Michigan is one of the most critical battlegrounds in the country.

In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.

In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but with Democrats remaining as the majority in the state Senate, the path to a trifecta is within reach in 2026.

With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results for Michiganders.
