About Rebecca
Rebecca Amidon is an educator and nonprofit leader running to flip a seat in the Michigan Senate this fall. Rebecca is an advocate for children and families with a specific focus on the national childcare crisis. Rebecca believes government should be a partner in helping people build stable, dignified lives, and, if elected, she’s ready to fight to improve public schools, protect rural hospitals, and lower the cost of living for working families.
Rebecca’s district is one of this year’s best opportunities for a red-to-blue flip in the Michigan Senate, and with the DLCC’s support, she’s ready to win her race to help Democrats win a majority in the chamber.
Michigan
Michigan is one of the most critical battlegrounds in the country.
In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.
In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but with Democrats remaining as the majority in the state Senate, the path to a trifecta is within reach in 2026.
With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results for Michiganders.
