About Dr.

Dr. Theresa Brooks is a physician, small business owner, and Troy City Council member running to flip a seat in the Michigan Senate this fall. Theresa has worked to build strong relationships, bring people together, and help address the challenges facing our community. As a physician, she took an oath to help people and do no harm, and carries that commitment to her work as a public servant. Theresa is deeply engaged with health policy and advocacy. If she is elected, Theresa will work to increase access to affordable health care, fight for strong public schools, support small businesses, and help make life more affordable for Michigan’s working families.

District 9’s Republican incumbent was elected in 2022 by less than 800 votes. With the support of the DLCC, Theresa is ready to win a competitive election that would help Democrats expand their majority in the Michigan Senate.

Michigan

Michigan is one of the most critical battlegrounds in the country.

In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.

In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but with Democrats remaining as the majority in the state Senate, the path to a trifecta is within reach in 2026.

With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results for Michiganders.
