About Melanie

Sen. Melanie Scheible is an attorney from the Las Vegas area running for reelection to the Nevada Senate in November. Before being elected to the state Senate, Melanie worked as a prosecutor for the Clark County DA’s office, where she handled over 1,000 felony cases, ranging from complex gun crimes and sexual assaults to murders. As a state Senator, Melanie continues to fight for safer communities, access to affordable health care, and economic opportunities for all Nevadans.

Melanie flipped District 9 in 2018 and has defended the seat ever since. This year, with the support of the DLCC, she’s ready to protect her district again and help Democrats expand their majority in the Nevada Senate.

Nevada

2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in Nevada and establish a blue supermajority in the state Assembly.

Since flipping both chambers of the Nevada legislature in 2016, Democratic leadership has brought sweeping progress to the state, including universal free school meals for students, minimum wage increases, and civil rights protections for women and LGBTQ+ Nevadans.

The DLCC has been on the ground in Nevada cycle after cycle, supporting candidates in the most competitive races to protect Democratic majorities in the state Senate and Assembly.

This year, Democrats in the Nevada Assembly need to gain just one seat to secure a supermajority, bringing them closer to passing key legislation even if a Republican governor attempts to veto it.

With so much work still needed to ensure a bright future for the state, we can’t afford to lose an inch of ground to Republican extremism in Nevada.
