Darcy Castro

Darcy Castro is a community servant with a background in public relations, journalism, and nonprofit marketing from West Cobb County running to flip a seat in the Georgia Senate in November. Darcy is deeply committed to building community, forging meaningful relationships, and meeting the needs of those around her so that she leaves things better than she found them. Above all, Darcy believes in collaboration for the common good, and if she is elected, she will fight for Georgia’s working families on issues such as defending voting rights, access to affordable health care, public education funding, and the affordability crisis.

Darcy, with the support of the DLCC, is ready for a highly competitive election to represent her community and help Democrats gain ground in the Georgia Senate.

2026 is a historic opportunity for Democrats to pick up seats in Georgia and build momentum for future majorities.

Georgia has seen unified Republican control of the governor’s office and legislature since 2005, but continued efforts from the DLCC and Georgia Democrats have led to victories in both chambers of the Georgia legislature, steadily chipping away at the state’s red majorities.

Over the last several cycles, the DLCC has helped Georgia Democrats make gains in both chambers of the legislature, including nearly 20 seats in the state House over the past decade.

In 2026, building Democratic power in Georgia is more important than ever. A competitive gubernatorial race this year could result in another GOP governor, meaning Democrats in the Georgia legislature would remain as the only line of defense against an extreme MAGA agenda.
