About Michelle

Michelle Kang is a first-generation Korean American, nonprofit leader, and mom of three from Gwinnett County running to flip a seat in the Georgia House this fall. Michelle is running to stand up for families like her own who face daily challenges from the out-of-control cost of living to public schools crippled by neglect from GOP-led policies. Michelle is ready to be the representative her district deserves, one who listens and responds with compassion and courage.

With recent elections in House District 99 decided by only a few hundred votes, this race is one of the best opportunities for Democrats to gain ground in Georgia. Michelle is building a strong campaign with the backing of the DLCC’s Target Races program to win this highly competitive seat and strengthen Democratic power in the Georgia House.

Georgia

2026 is a historic opportunity for Democrats to pick up seats in Georgia and build momentum for future majorities.

Georgia has seen Republican trifectas since 2005, but continued efforts from the DLCC and Georgia Democrats have led to victories in both chambers of the Georgia legislature, steadily chipping away at the state’s red majorities.

Over the last several cycles, the DLCC has helped Georgia Democrats make gains in both chambers of the legislature, including 20 seats in the state House over the past decade.

In 2026, building Democratic power in Georgia is more important than ever. A competitive gubernatorial race this year could result in another GOP trifecta, meaning Democrats in the Georgia legislature would remain as the only line of defense against an extreme MAGA agenda.
