Cynthia Starke-Jones is a retired educator and community advocate running to flip a seat in the Georgia House this fall. As a former teacher, Cynthia deeply understands the challenges facing Georgia’s education system and is prepared to fight in the state House for common-sense solutions that put families first. She has spent over two decades as a tireless advocate for access to health care, strong public schools, and affordable housing, and if elected, she will continue to fight for Georgia’s future.

The race to represent District 19 is incredibly competitive, but with a strong campaign and support from the DLCC, Cynthia is well-positioned to flip this seat and help Democrats grow their power in the Georgia House.

Georgia has seen two decades of GOP control, but continued efforts from the DLCC and Georgia Democrats have led to victories in both chambers of the Georgia legislature, steadily chipping away at the state’s red majorities.

Over the last several cycles, the DLCC has helped Georgia Democrats make gains in both chambers of the legislature, including 20 seats in the state House since Trump’s first election.

In 2026, building Democratic power in Georgia is more important than ever. A competitive gubernatorial race this year could result in another GOP trifecta, meaning Democrats in the Georgia legislature would remain as the only line of defense against an extreme MAGA agenda.
