The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning the fight for America’s state legislatures.
About Chris
Sen. Chris Ryan, a lifelong Central New Yorker, former labor leader, and father of four, represents New York’s 50th Senate District. Before joining the state Senate, he served as minority leader of the Onondaga County Legislature, on the Geddes Town Board, and as president of CWA Local 1123. In Albany, Chris is focused on lowering costs, strengthening public safety, supporting local workers, and investing in the region’s economy. He is running for re-election to continue delivering practical, bipartisan results for the communities he calls home.
When he was first elected to the state Senate in 2024, Chris won by just over 1,500 votes. As he faces another highly competitive race, the DLCC has designated him a Target Race candidate, helping provide the support he needs to defend this crucial toss-up district.
New York
In 2026, Democrats have a historic opportunity to secure a supermajority in the New York Senate, needing just one more seat this November to do so.
New York Democrats have used their strong majorities to enact life-saving gun safety laws, deliver tax relief for working families, and go on offense against Republican gerrymandering.
Restoring a Senate supermajority alongside the existing Assembly supermajority would bolster Democratic power in Albany and provide an additional layer of protection for New Yorkers against GOP extremism.
With only one seat standing between Democrats and a Senate supermajority, the stakes this November are exceptionally high. The outcome will help determine not only whether New York can defend the progress it has made, but also whether the state can continue leading the way in delivering for working people.
