About Brenda

Brenda Bandy is a nonprofit co-founder and public health advocate from Manhattan, Kansas, running to flip a seat in the state House this November. Brenda is a long-time advocate for Kansas families, working with legislators to advance policies that make it easier to raise kids in the state and help small businesses grow. Now, Brenda is ready to do even more as a state legislator to address health care access, rising costs, and workforce stability for the people of her district and across the state.

House District 67 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive elections in the state in 2026. Brenda is mounting a strong campaign with the DLCC’s support and is ready to flip this seat and help Democrats build their power in the Kansas House.

Kansas

This year brings a historic opportunity to build Democratic power and break the Republican supermajority in the Kansas House.

The DLCC has been on the ground in Kansas for years, capitalizing on every opportunity to build momentum and chip away at Republican control of the state’s legislature. This year, we’ve identified the most competitive House districts and are bringing national attention to candidates with the best chances of flipping Republican-held seats or protecting key Democratic footholds.

Kansas House Democrats only need to gain five seats to break a supermajority Republicans have used to override Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and enact deeply unpopular legislation, such as a recent attempt to restrict voting rights ahead of the midterm in November. Breaking the supermajority is a critical first step towards progress for Kansas.

This year’s elections are a once-in-a-decade opportunity to begin turning the tide in Kansas and in red states across the country. A brighter future is possible for all Kansans, and the DLCC is ready to support our candidates every step of the way.
