Allison Hougland

Allison Hougland is a lifelong resident of Olathe, former legislator, and real estate agent running to flip Kansas House District 15 this November. Allison’s family has called the area home since 1859, and she previously served a term in the Kansas House from 2023 to 2024. If elected again, Allison is focused on lowering the cost of living from housing and health care to utility bills, defending public education, and preserving the dream of homeownership for future generations of working Kansas families.

Allison knows what it takes to run a strong campaign in this ultra-competitive district. In both 2022 and 2024, state House elections were decided by less than 200 votes, and, with DLCC’s support, she’s ready to retake this competitive battleground and expand Democratic power in the Kansas House.

This year brings a historic opportunity to build Democratic power and break the Republican supermajority in the Kansas House.

This year, we’ve identified the most competitive House districts and are bringing national attention to candidates with the best chances of flipping Republican-held seats or protecting key Democratic footholds. 

Kansas House Democrats only need to gain five seats to break a supermajority Republicans have used to override Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and enact deeply unpopular legislation, such as a recent attempt to restrict voting rights ahead of the midterm in November. Breaking the supermajority is a critical first step towards progress for Kansas.
