Nebraska
Legislature: GOP Supermajority
Nebraska is on the DLCC’s 2026 Target Map.
2026 is a historic opportunity to pick up seats in Nebraska and build for future majorities. Following the Nebraska primaries, the DLCC is laser-focused on preserving Omaha’s “Blue Dot” status by flipping at least one seat in the state legislature this November. Nebraska is one of two states with a split electoral vote system, which has empowered Democratic presidential candidates to pick up an Electoral College vote in a state that otherwise favors the GOP.
Gaining seats in Nebraska can prevent Republicans from having a filibuster-proof majority in the chamber and continue to protect Nebraska’s split-electoral vote system. This year in Nebraska we’ll work to pick up seats and build Democratic power.
The DLCC will be targeting competitive races across the state and sharing more info on DLCC Target Races in Nebraska soon.
