Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces Slate of Targets in Nebraska

2026 is a critical moment to grow power in the unicameral legislature and protect the “Blue Dot”

WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced our slate of Target Races in Nebraska. These races represent some of the most competitive and promising opportunities to build power in the unicameral, nonpartisan legislature. The importance of state-level control over the means and methods by which elections are administered has never been more important.

The Cornhusker State is just one of two states that award Electoral College votes by congressional district, often awarding a critical electoral vote for Democrats’ path to victory in presidential elections. Republicans have been attempting to use their power to upend this system, seize an electoral college vote, and rig themselves into a permanent congressional majority by eliminating Omaha’s “Blue Dot.”

The DLCC is working directly with the Nebraska Democratic Party and aligned Target Race candidates to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact. 2026 is a historic opportunity to shift the balance of power across the country, and Nebraska is critical to these efforts. With less than 100 days until Election Day, the DLCC has the Target Map and strategy to meet this moment.
