DLCC is proud to work with California Democrats, who wield substantial power to set policy and make progress in a state with nearly 40 million people and the world’s fourth-largest economy. The California State Legislature has been on the frontlines of protecting their communities and fighting back against the Trump Administration’s reckless and destructive agenda.
As a result of voters passing Prop 50 in 2025, California Democrats hold the authority over drawing congressional maps through 2030 – a key victory for voter representation amidst Republicans’ foiled plans to rig the process.

The DLCC is targeting three Senate seats in California to build upon state Democrats’ strong majorities and continue foiling Republican plans to rig themselves into a permanent congressional majority.
As a caucus, California Democrats have consistently stood as a firewall to the Trump administration’s cost of living crisis, attack on voting rights, and egregious attacks on immigrant communities across the Golden State. Building a strong majority in the state Senate and a decisive Democratic showing in the gubernatorial election will keep this critical Democratic trifecta focused on fighting for our rights every day.
The DLCC applauds California voters, state legislative Democrats, and Governor Newsom for taking a stand for democracy and doing their part to put the midterm elections back on a level playing field across the country. The next big step is for us to focus on expanding the number of Democratic state legislative majorities in the midterms, which will have an even larger impact in the battle over redistricting. We will have historic opportunities to expand the number of Democratic majorities next year, and the DLCC remains laser-focused on this goal.
