About Darrin

Sen. Darrin Camilleri, the youngest Latino and the first Maltese-American ever elected to the Michigan legislature, is running for reelection to the Michigan Senate this fall. As the son and grandson of union auto workers and a former Detroit teacher, Darrin is a relentless advocate for keeping jobs in his community and investing in working families. If reelected to the Senate, Darrin will keep up the fight to build a brighter future for Michigan.

Darrin was elected in 2022 after running with the support of the DLCC’s Target Races program, and is ready to protect this key Democratic seat once again, and help defend the Michigan Senate’s blue majority.

Michigan

Michigan stands as one of the most critical battlegrounds in the country.

In 2022, Michigan Democrats flipped both chambers of the state legislature for the first time in over a decade, delivering a Democratic trifecta and passing historic legislation that improved the lives of working families across the state.

In 2024, Republicans narrowly retook the Michigan House — but Democrats maintained control of the Senate, keeping the path to a trifecta within reach.

With a one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate and a clear path to reclaim the House, strategic early investment in these races will determine whether Democrats can restore full control and continue delivering results.
