Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces Slate of Targets in Oklahoma
The DLCC is building Democratic power everywhere in November
WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced four Target Races to build Democratic power in the Oklahoma House. Republicans have held a trifecta in the state for over a decade and have used that power to gut public school funding, ban abortion, and attack civil rights. Meanwhile, rural hospitals are closing at an alarming rate, and Oklahomans are struggling to afford basic necessities.
Last year, Oklahoma Democrat Amanda Clinton pulled off a massive special election upset, outperforming by 50 points. Oklahomans are ready for change, and the DLCC is ready to capitalize on that energy. 2026 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shift the balance of power across the country, including in Oklahoma.
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:
“For over a decade, Republicans have used their power in Oklahoma to attack civil rights, push the limits of MAGA extremism, and turn a blind eye to the very real issues plaguing working families. From stripping people of their health care coverage to gutting public school funding, Oklahomans deserve better than a government that insists its primary role is to cut public services and target marginalized communities. People are ready for change. Tulsa Democrat Amanda Clinton’s massive special election overperformance last year was a clear example of the grassroots enthusiasm we are seeing across the country. This election is a historic opportunity for Democrats to build power in every state, and we are proud to support this group of candidates in Oklahoma.”
