Countdown to Election Day: DLCC Charging Full Steam Ahead in Final 100 Days

Democrats’ ability to deliver once-in-a-generation gains this November will be determined by actions taken in this final stretch

WASHINGTON – With 100 days remaining until the midterm elections, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is prepared to execute our national strategy to fundamentally shift the balance of power in statehouses nationwide. 2026 presents a critical and once-in-a-generation opportunity to rebuild Democratic power from the ground up. The stakes couldn’t be higher as the path to long-term power for the Democratic Party runs through our statehouses and the DLCC’s Target Map.

To meet this moment, the DLCC launched our most expansive Target Map and budget in the organization’s history, including more than 500 districts across 42 chambers, backed by $50 million. Throughout the cycle, we have laid crucial groundwork across our Target Map – including overwhelming special election wins, critical early investments, and record-breaking candidate recruitment.

Alongside Democratic wins in the midterms for Congress and Governors, the potential power within reach in the states could be transformational.

• Eight new Democratic majorities
• Seven new Democratic trifectas
• 10 fewer Republican supermajorities
• Hundreds of legislative seats flipped from red to blue.

DLCC’s ambitious strategy is designed to take advantage of this once-in-a-generation election environment to build power all across the country. The DLCC is using a steady stream of data to continue pinpointing the most competitive and impactful races in the evolving landscape as we raise and deploy the resources needed in these final 100 days.

Hundreds of districts are at play, and flipping just 19 seats in our target states can deliver four new Democratic trifectas and six new majorities in presidential battleground states. We have 100 days to invest in our national strategy and support the candidates in must-win races.
