Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces First Slate of Targets in South Carolina House

South Carolina is on the DLCC’s historic Target Map as we aim to break the GOP supermajority in the House

WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced five Target Races in the South Carolina House, where Democrats need to flip six seats to break the GOP supermajority that has rubberstamped Trump’s agenda and passed dangerous, unpopular legislation like their 6-week abortion ban.

The DLCC is working directly with the South Carolina House Democratic Caucus and Target Race candidates to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact. 2026 is a historic opportunity to shift the balance of power across the country and build Democratic power in the Palmetto State, and the DLCC has the Target Map and strategy to capitalize on this energy.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“Republicans have held the South Carolina House for more than 25 years, and 2026 is the year for Democrats to break their toxic supermajority. While costs soar and working South Carolinians struggle, Republicans in the legislature have rubberstamped Trump’s disastrous agenda and attacked their constituents’ fundamental rights. Breaking the supermajority is the first step in the Democrats’ long-term plan to build power in the Palmetto State and give South Carolinians legislators who believe government should help, not harm, the people they serve. We are proud to announce this slate of strong candidates and are prepared to offer the support they need to win in November.”

The DLCC’s first slate of Target Races in the South Carolina House includes:

• Montez Aiken (HD-102)
• Nick Uricchio (HD-115)
• Clay Middleton (HD-116)
