Jumelle Brooks

Dr. Jumelle Brooks is a health care administration expert and educator from Greenwood running to flip a seat in the South Carolina House this fall. With nearly twenty years of leadership experience in health care and education, Jumelle is ready to use her skills to advocate for her community. She’s running because she believes that a better future is possible for South Carolina, and, if elected, Jumelle is committed to fighting to lower the cost of living, access to quality health care and public education, and the rights of all South Carolinians.

Jumelle’s race is set to be one of the most competitive House elections in the state in 2026, and she’s running a strong campaign to unseat the district’s Republican incumbent. With the support of the DLCC’s Target Races program, she has an excellent chance of flipping her district and helping Democrats break the GOP supermajority in the South Carolina House.

South Carolina Republicans have introduced some of the most extreme legislation in the country, including several near-total bans on abortion and attacks on civil rights. Breaking the House supermajority would be a critical first step towards stopping GOP lawmakers in South Carolina from rubber-stamping Trump’s disastrous agenda at the state level.

Electing Democratic candidates committed to upholding democracy is the only way to ensure millions of South Carolinians are protected from deeply harmful GOP policies.
