The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning the fight for America’s state legislatures.
About Tangie
Rep. Tangie Herring is a public school teacher from Macon running for reelection to the Georgia House in November. With nearly three decades of classroom teaching experience, Tangie’s work is rooted in community service and a dedication to creating opportunities for the next generation of Georgians. Tangie brings this mindset to her work in the state House, where she is a staunch advocate for public education and lowering the cost of living for working families.
In 2024, Tangie flipped her district blue by less than 300 votes. Her race this year will be just as competitive, but with a strong campaign and the support of the DLCC’s Target Races program, Tangie is ready to defend her seat on election day as Democrats aim to grow their power in the Georgia House.
Georgia
After more than two decades of GOP control, 2026 is a historic opportunity for Democrats to pick up seats in Georgia and build momentum for future majorities.
Georgia has seen Republican trifectas since 2005, but continued efforts from the DLCC and Georgia Democrats have led to victories in both chambers of the Georgia legislature, steadily chipping away at the state’s red majorities.
Over the last several cycles, the DLCC has helped Georgia Democrats make gains in both chambers of the legislature, including 20 seats in the state House and 5 in the Senate over the past decade.
This year, building Democratic power in Georgia is more important than ever. A competitive gubernatorial race this year could result in another GOP trifecta, meaning Democrats in the Georgia legislature would remain as the only line of defence against an extreme MAGA agenda.
