Senate: Democratic Majority

House: Democratic Majority

A Monumental Victory in Virginia.

In 2025, the DLCC and our partners delivered a monumental victory– protecting and expanding the Democratic majority in the House of Delegates, the most competitive state legislative chamber on the ballot in 2025 and securing a Democratic trifecta.

With 64 seats in the House of Delegates, Democrats have the largest Democratic majority in Virginia in nearly four decades, built on years of hard fought-wins to flip this state blue.

With their expanded House majority and new trifecta, Virginia Democrats took action in early 2026 to lower costs, raise the minimum wage, protect constitutional rights, and fight back against the Trump Administration.

The DLCC will continue partnering with Virginia Democrats to defend progress in their state in future elections.

2025 Victories

Making History in 2025

The DLCC invested over $2M in Virginia to support the strongest caucus program in history — from running candidates across all 100 districts to setting records for fundraising, we flipped 13 seats and won  the largest majority in Virginia since 1989.

DLCC Board Member

Virginia House Speaker Don Scott

Speaker Don Scott is an unapologetic champion for working Virginians whose unfailing work ethic and vision helped him become the first Black speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. In what was a solidly red state just a decade ago, Speaker Scott’s record of delivering for Virginians has helped solidify and expand Democrats’ strength across the Commonwealth. An attorney and former United States Naval Officer, there is nothing Speaker Scott wouldn’t do to serve his community – including donating one of his kidneys to his neighbor.

In the face of an embattled GOP Governor and a presidential administration hellbent on slashing programs Virginians rely on, Speaker Scott has fought tirelessly to protect progress in his state and ensure that Democrats can stay on offense. All eyes should be on Virginia in 2025 and Speaker Scott’s leadership as he bolsters the Democratic majorities, which are a crucial firewall against the Trump administration’s extremism.

Speaker Scott was first elected to the DLCC Board in 2025.
