Republicans currently control the Texas Legislature but that hasn’t stopped state Democrats from fighting on behalf of their communities. As the campaign arm for more than 3,000 state legislators and thousands of candidates across all 50 states, the DLCC is providing the roadmap for building Democratic power across red, blue, and purple states in 2026 and beyond, including in Texas.
2026 is a historic opportunity to build power in red states all across the country, including gaining significant ground in Texas. Gaining seats in the House in this year’s favorable environment could help put this chamber in play in future cycles as more voters turn away from the failing GOP agenda.
Redistricting Update
As Republicans rig the maps in Texas, the DLCC is armed with our national strategy to win the larger redistricting battle. Looking at the state-by-state math, it is crystal clear Democrats must prioritize building and securing more state legislative majorities across the map if we want to go toe-to-toe with the GOP on redistricting now and in 2030. Gaining seats and building new Democratic majorities in our statehouses is imperative for putting Democrats in a stronger position now and at the end of the decade.
