Ohio

Senate: GOP Supermajority

9D
24R

House: GOP Supermajority

34D
65R

Ohio is on the DLCC’s 2026 Target Map.

2026 is a historic opportunity to break the GOP supermajorities in the Ohio House. Democrats need to gain just 6 House seats to break the GOP supermajority. Ohio Republicans have wielded their supermajorities to make it harder to vote, and ignore the will of voters who voted to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution.

In the event of an incoming GOP governor, breaking a supermajority would help Democrats block Republicans’ anti-union legislation and prevent extreme GOP bills from being enacted with emergency clauses.

The DLCC will be targeting competitive races across the state and sharing more info on DLCC Target Races in Ohio soon.

One Year of Trump Resistance

In the past year since Donald Trump was inaugurated as President, state Democrats have stepped up to create a blue wall of resistance against the Trump administration’s extremist policies. And it’s working. Facing the lowest approval rating of any elected president in his first term, Trump and his Republican legislators are desperate to claim victories that simply are unattainable in the toxic environment they have created in Washington.
