In a stunning victory in 2025, Mississippi Senate Democrats successfully flipped enough seats to break the Republican supermajority. DLCC Spotlight candidates Theresa Gillespie Isom, Sen. Reginald Jackson, and Johnny DuPree won in court-ordered special elections and now represent their constituents in Jackson.
The bold leadership and strategy of Democrats in red states requires them to face off against rising GOP extremism. Even in entrenched GOP majorities, Democrats are showing up and providing the leadership that voters crave. The DLCC is providing the roadmap for building Democratic momentum across red, blue, and purple states in 2026 and beyond.
The DLCC will continue to partner with state Democrats to build power in Mississippi.
