Battleground State

Arizona

Senate: GOP Majority

House: GOP Majority

33R

Arizona is a top DLCC Battleground State in 2026.

Arizona is one of our top opportunities to turn a state blue in this once-in-a-generation election. We are aiming to flip both chambers in the state legislature for the first time since the 1960s.

Arizona is home to some of the nation’s most extreme MAGA Republicans who have focused on undermining our democracy and chasing conspiracy theories rather than addressing the issues facing Arizonans. We have an opportunity to let Democrats drive the state’s agenda for the first time since the Civil Rights era by electing legislators who believe that government should help, not harm, the people it represents.

After chipping away at GOP power, Democrats are now poised to flip both chambers. DLCC is supporting Target Races featuring the Democratic candidates running in the most competitive districts that will determine which party controls Arizona next year.

Meet the DLCC’s Arizona Target Race Candidates

The DLCC is targeting 17 crucial races in Arizona in order to seize the opportunity to flip the Arizona legislature from red to blue and establish a new Democratic trifecta – adding to the firewall in the states against the chaos from the Trump administration.

Arizona Capitol Times: Republicans and Democrats see presidential race as key to shaking up state Legislature

In-state experts and national state legislative organizations alike will have their eyes trained on Arizona's down-ballot races this election season. With Donald Trump at the top of the Republican ticket, the DLCC will be looking to capitalize on the presumptive nominee's toxicity and could flip control of the state Senate and while gaining ground in the House. With the "Trump effect" in play, Arizona politicos are saying "all bets are off in the down-ballot races."
