Republicans currently have outsized influence in Alabama due to extreme gerrymandering and they have used their power to pass an equally extreme agenda. In recent years, the GOP supermajorities have undermined voting access, enacted a severe abortion ban, and attacked the rights and freedoms of their constituents.
Even against these odds, Democrats are showing up and providing the leadership that voters crave. The DLCC is providing the roadmap for building Democratic momentum across red, blue, and purple states in 2026 and beyond and as the national committee leading the strategy for state legislatures, the DLCC is continuing to look for opportunities to pick up ground in Alabama.

In the wake of a devastating ruling from the Alabama Supreme Court restricting reproductive health care, DLCC scored an important special election win with Target Race Candidate Marilyn Lands flipping a Republican-leaning district.
