This is the 24th seat state Democrats have flipped in 2025
WASHINGTON — Tonight, Democratic candidate Eric Gisler pulled off a major upset victory in Georgia House District 121, flipping a Republican-held district that Donald Trump won by more than 12 points. This victory follows another important victory earlier this evening in which Democrats held a key state legislative seat in Florida.
These wins are the latest proof points of the DLCC’s stellar record of winning special elections in battleground and red territory, and there are more high-stakes special election opportunities still ahead before the end of the year.
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:
“Eric Gisler just defied expectations and flipped a deep red Trump district in Georgia. This victory builds on state Democrats’ momentum as we’ve overperformed and flipped red, blue, and purple districts across the country all year round. It’s clear state legislative Democrats have undeniable momentum heading into the new year.”
