Democrats have a one-seat majority in the Michigan Senate, and this race will set the tone for the midterms when the whole chamber is on the ballot
WASHINGTON — Today, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) Spotlighted Chedrick Greene ahead of the must-win, majority-deciding special election for the Michigan Senate on May 5th. Michigan’s 35th Senate district is a true toss-up that Kamala Harris won with just 50.44% of the vote. If Republicans clinch this seat, it would tie the chamber and empower them to bring legislative business to a standstill. This seat in the Great Lakes Bay Region will be up again in November, so ensuring a Democratic win now best positions Democrats to hold the majority this fall.
That’s why the DLCC is announcing a $250K investment in the Michigan Senate for the cycle so far. This investment supports Michigan Senate Democrats as they seek to hold the majority this May and again in November.
The DLCC began delivering investments to the caucus last year, and the Michigan Senate will remain on the DLCC’s target map this November. The DLCC has launched the largest target map to date alongside a $50 million political investment across our map, including both chambers in Michigan.
