The DLCC has protected the Pennsylvania House through eight majority-making special elections.
WASHINGTON — Today, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) announced Ana Tiburcio and Jen Mazzocco as Spotlight candidates ahead of their majority-deciding special elections for the Pennsylvania House on February 24th. The DLCC has played a key role in protecting this chamber’s single-seat majority, including through eight majority-making special elections last cycle.
The Pennsylvania House is a top priority on the DLCC’s 2026 target map as we aim to protect Democratic power through special elections and defend this critical majority in November. There are more special elections to watch happening soon in Texas, New York, Georgia, and Maine, including majority-deciding races later this spring.
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:
“The calendar of special elections is heating up in state legislatures – including a set of specials in Pennsylvania that will make or break the House majority. While Pennsylvania Republicans’ MAGA agenda is raising costs and stripping away rights, Democrats like Ana Tiburcio and Jen Mazzocco are putting working families first. The DLCC and state Democrats don’t have the luxury of waiting until the fall to ramp into campaign mode – we are laser-focused on every opportunity between now and November to flip seats and set the tone for the midterms.”
Ana Tiburcio (HD-22) is a small business owner and community advocate from Allentown running in a February special election to protect a critical seat in the Pennsylvania House. Ana is committed to championing working families by expanding economic opportunities. If Ana is elected, she will be a strong voice for the people while working to expand access to health care and quality public education for all Pennsylvanians.
Jen Mazzocco (HD-42) is a Pittsburgh-area public school teacher running in a must-win special election this February to protect a seat in the Pennsylvania House and Democrats’ single-seat majority in the chamber. Jen is dedicated to improving life in her community in every way she can. From helping fight food insecurity to advocating for students and workers, she’s committed to serving others.
