WASHINGTON — In light of Joe Biden’s historic victory in Georgia, the upcoming Senate runoffs, and Democratic gains in the Georgia General Assembly, Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post released the following statement:
“Stacey Abrams and Fair Fight saw an opportunity to make gains and flip the state blue and worked like hell to make it happen. The DLCC is proud to have been part of that fight. Fundamentally, our gains in Georgia at all levels of the ballot show that organizing and building on the ground infrastructure is worth it, and will pay off cycle after cycle.
"A Democrat will carry the state in the presidential race for the first time since 1992 and we flipped seats at least three seats from red to blue in the legislature. Republicans cannot take Georgia for granted anymore, and we’ll continue working to build Democratic power in the state.
“Democrats faced the unenviable task of competing on rigged maps, and the results weren’t what we hoped for in every state. But we should not lose sight of the fact that we made further gains in Georgia, one of the most gerrymandered states in the country.
“Stacey Abrams had our back, and we’re going to have hers as we work with Fair Fight and see this through to the end.”
