DLCC Celebrates Landmark Victory in Delaware
Democrat Stephanie Hansen Delivers Crucial State Senate Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post applauded Democrat Stephanie Hansen on her win in the special election for Delaware Senate District 10.

“Congratulations to Senator-elect Hansen on her remarkable success tonight,” said Post. “A talented woman with a strong commitment to public service has led Democrats to victory in yet another special election since President Trump’s inauguration – a vivid expression of Democrats’ level of energy and engagement as voters reject Trump’s GOP. And while this energy was most prominently on display in Delaware today, the support and donations that poured into this race from all 50 states demonstrates that Democrats nationwide are energized and ready to fight Trump’s Republican Party on all fronts.

“But this race wasn’t just about Democratic energy – it was about channeling that energy into a successful campaign strategy that led Sen.-elect Hansen to victory in a competitive district,” continued Post. “DLCC is proud of the field, communications, and independent expenditure efforts we supported in this race that resulted in the recruitment and training of more than 1,000 volunteers, nearly 90,000 knocked doors, and over 60,000 phone calls. These figures help explain why this win is just the latest of many electoral victories to come for down-ballot Democrats as voters spurn the Trump administration’s extreme and bigoted agenda.”

This victory is just the latest in a series of Democratic successes in recent state legislative elections. Last fall, Democrats flipped majority control of the New Mexico House, Nevada Assembly, Nevada Senate, and Alaska House. Since November, Democrats have won special elections in the Iowa House, Iowa Senate, Virginia House, and Virginia Senate.
