DLCC Bolsters Spotlight Races Lineup With Additional Two Races
Upcoming September Special Elections In Oklahoma and New Hampshire Provide Democrats With Two “Red to Blue” Opportunities

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post announced the addition of two upcoming legislative races to DLCC’s Spotlight Races.
“Democrats have already enjoyed remarkable success in special elections in both New Hampshire and Oklahoma throughout 2017, flipping two deep-red seats in Oklahoma and one seat in the New Hampshire House, and the DLCC looks forward to continuing our winning momentum,” said Post. “The DLCC is honored to stand with these two educators as they fight for working families, advocate for students, and strive to protect our nation’s values and the rights of all Americans.”

Since Trump’s inauguration, Democrats have flipped four legislative seats and have overperformed in almost every legislative special election. State Democrats recently scored critical victories in New Hampshire with Senator Kevin Cavanaugh’s win and in Iowa with Representative Phil Miller’s win. Legislative Democrats have claimed additional victories in Oklahoma, Delaware, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and elsewhere. The DLCC looks forward to continuing our support of Democrats in Virginia, New Jersey, Washington, Florida, and beyond as they build on Democrats’ winning momentum heading into 2018 elections.
