WHY:
The work to improve the lives of everyday Americans doesn’t just happen in Washington, DC. In state capitols across the country, Democratic lawmakers fight every day to advance progressive policies that help hardworking families. Speaker Kotek, President pro Tem de León, and Leader Abrams are leading the way in their states to advance progressive values. This fall, DLCC’s work to win legislative majorities and build Democratic power in states will help these and thousands of other Democratic lawmakers continue our fight to translate statehouse progress into national results.
The inclusion of key state Democratic leaders and DLCC Board members in the Democratic Convention’s main program highlights the crucial nature of state legislative politics and down-ballot elections. These legislative leaders were selected to participate by DLCC Chair and Iowa Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal to highlight the diversity of our membership and leadership.
