DLCC Applauds Court Order to Redraw Gerrymandered Maps in Wisconsin
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post released the following statement on today’s federal court order instructing the GOP-controlled Wisconsin state legislature to redraw district maps by November 1, 2017, in advance of 2018 elections.
“Wisconsin Republicans illegally silenced the voices of Democratic voters, and today’s ruling is a step towards giving all Wisconsinites fair representation in their government,” said Post. “We call on Republican legislators to redraw these maps via a fair and open process. This court order is a crucial development in a case that represents a key victory in the fight against the anti-democratic, extreme partisan gerrymandering executed by Republicans in 2011 in states across the country.”
