Democrats have now flipped 28 seats since Trump’s election, while Republicans have still flipped zero

WASHINGTON — New Hampshire Democrat Bobbi Boudman just defied the odds and clinched the latest state legislative seat flip for Democrats. Trump won this House seat in northern New Hampshire in both 2024 and 2020. Tonight’s victory is the latest proof point of the DLCC’s momentum and strategy as we prepare to flip both chambers in the New Hampshire legislature this November.

This upset flip comes on the heels of several embarrassing losses for Republicans in red states, including Arkansas Democrat Alex Holladay’s double-digit swing just last week. Democrats have now flipped 28 seats since Trump’s election across red and battleground territory, while Republicans have flipped no seats. Momentum is undeniable as the DLCC gears up for a target map that could deliver the biggest gains in two decades this November.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“Tuesdays are becoming a headache for state Republicans across the country as they suffer one stunning defeat after another. Bobbi Boudman’s flip in New Hampshire tonight is just the latest in a string of 28 Democratic state legislative flips since Trump’s election. These wins aren’t a flash in a pan – together, they tell an undeniable story of Democratic momentum as voters reject Republicans and blame them for soaring costs.  The DLCC isn’t taking our foot off the gas as we gear up for a historic November. This is the year to transform power in state legislatures – we’re only just getting started.”

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the campaign arm of Democratic state legislatures and leads the national strategy for building power and winning new majorities. Over the last three decades, we have strategized cycle over cycle to win majorities and lead the effort to bring national attention and investment to our ballot level, winning nearly a dozen new chamber majorities over the last decade. Our work has ensured that nearly half of Americans are represented by at least one Democratic majority in their statehouse. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and have the closest connections to Americans’ day-to-day lives. From protecting fundamental freedoms and voting rights to growing the middle class and advancing opportunity, the DLCC and state legislators are moving the Democratic agenda forward and shaping the future of this country.
